FORMING CONCEPTS, INC. is a company whose sole business is the design and supply of concrete forming systems and related accessories. Started in 1980 by a group of experts with a lifetime of experience in the concrete construction industry, FCI has successfully taken on the full spectrum of concrete forming projects: from an all inclusive system on a $200,000,000 paper mill to an intricate Self-Riser system for Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay, to a variety of shaft and tunnel forms for the “Deep Tunnel” project in Chicago. FCI has done it all. Other companies attempt to promote their service capabilities when, in reality, they are in business simply to supply their own forms. FCI firmly believes their competitive edge stems precisely from their willingness and ability to become totally involved in the contractor's forming problems and to supply the system that is right for that job, whatever it may be. The most successful projects, in fact, are those in which FCI becomes a part of the contractor's team. By using the input of the individuals involved in designing and building the structure along with their own knowledge gained on hundreds of projects, FCI is able to offer a complete, efficient, and economical form package. While the specific form system used on a job is certainly important, in many cases how it is used and cycled can be a major factor in running a profitable job. This fact was dramatically illustrated by FCI's forming solutions on a maximum security prison in Joliet, Illinois; on high rise buildings throughout the US; and more recently on a wastewater treatment plant in Indiana. In all of these cases, after a number of discussions with the superintendents and project managers, FCI was able to achieve a drastic reduction in man-hours and calendar days through the use of carefully selected techniques and equipment. The forming specialists at FCI have also been retained by such companies as Reynolds Aluminum to act as consultants in evaluating the potential forming problems while a project is still in the design stage.
